Through several years we have wanted to present the immersive and interactive performance-art at Roskilde Festival. This type of performances focuses on the other-worldly, sensuous and poetic meeting that can activate new modes of being and being together. 2017 will be the last year that we curate the performance-programmed. In 2013 we presented The Velvet State, where the performance-group Fiction Pimps (DK) and Collective Unconscious (UK) created the immersive frame around a number of performances in the intersection of music and art. In 2014 the four performance-groups Sisters Hope (DK), Savage Amusement (DE/AU), Katalin Halasz (UK) and Lilibeth Cuenca Rasmussen explored the sensuous in Performance Sense Laboratory. In 2015 and 2016 we developed and unfolded the new format Performance-Music Dialogues focusing on the performative meeting between music and the arts. In 2017 we will present Cantabile 2, who has led the way within the field of immersive and interactive performance-art for decades. This will be the end of this journey. With their piece Love Shacks they will present an opportunity to explore the sensuous, poetic and intimate in the middle of the open and extrovert space of the festival. It is with great pleasure and pride that we present Cantabile 2 and hope that our intention and work to unfold and develop opportunities within the immersive performance-art at the festival will be passed on in years to come.
Thus, 2017 will be the last year that we curate the performance art program at the Roskilde Festival for now. In line with our deep intention to present and unfold the potential of immersive and interactive performance art pieces at the festival we have invited the pioneer performance group Cantabile2 to present their work this year.
The immersive and interactive performance tradition allows for sensuous, poetic and intimate human encounters in the midst of the wild landscape of the festival site and thus, open other mdoes of being and being together.
Cantabile2 will present an original piece – Love Shacks. Inspired by old computer games each participant is led through a series of spaces inhabited by performers who will lead them deeper into the world and potential of human encounters – Also when they are mysterious and unpredictable.
