Sensuous operate in the intersection of performance art, research, activism and curation.

In Sensuous we share our visions on what we term a Sensuous society. A vision, or rather a sense, that has been haunting us in our sleep for times and times... Sensuous society

Performative Urbanism

We are engaged in a new course combining Performance Studies and City Development Studies at Roskilde University.

The course will unfold in the intersection between these disciplines and beyond and include lectures by Martin Frandsen, Jan Lilliendahl Rasmussen, Kristine Samson & Gry Worre Hallberg. The lectures will partly unfold at the university and partly at the spaces-in-between of the city – Eg. in the Dome of Visions.

We recently had our opening lecture with all four course developers present. Curiosities included discussions on whether to see these two disciplines as separate at all or merely as a play in the intersection – Especially to Performance Studies almost all fields of interests unfold in the intersection. The relationship between ‘invited’ spaces and ‘spontaneous spaces’ and the notion of framesetting as a third strategy between the two. Intervention as a tool of change and the quality of interventions – Interventions into different public spheres and interventions within the singular participant. The relationship between contemporary aesthetic strategies that provokes and chocks and  contemporary aesthetic strategies that creates constructive relations (also see Claire Bishop) and again – the third space between the two – That aesthetic strategies may have edifying intentions but still uphold the danger and potential darkness, which also defines the art space, in that it is one of those few systems where these perspectives are allowed. And many other considerations when taking performance to the city and the city to the performance. Or as they both unfold in the intersection.
